About Paraíso de Aves

A registered parrot breeder in Llíria, Valencia, Spain — hand-raising psittacines with full CITES documentation and delivering to the UK and Ireland.

Who We Are

Paraíso de Aves is a registered zoological nucleus based in Llíria, Valencia, Spain — approximately 30 minutes north of Valencia city. We specialise in the hand-raising of exotic psittacines: parrots bred in-house, handled from the earliest days of life, and prepared for their life as companion birds before they ever leave our facility.

We are a small, specialist operation — not a commercial farm. Every bird is raised individually, socialised with people of all ages, and assessed for temperament before we consider it ready for its new home. Our breeding pairs are long-established, health-tested, and housed in species-appropriate aviaries.

Our facility is open to prospective buyers. We warmly welcome visits to Llíria — many of our UK and Irish clients combine a trip to Spain with a visit to meet their future bird. Contact us by email to arrange a time.

Our Credentials

Every bird we sell comes with complete, government-issued documentation. We do not sell birds without papers, and we do not work with suppliers who do.

📋
CITES Certification All species covered under CITES Appendix I and II are sold with official EU-issued CITES documents including ring number, hatch date, and breeder registry.
🏛️
Registered Zoological Nucleus Our facility is registered with the Comunidad Valenciana as a zoological nucleus — the official classification for authorised exotic animal breeders in Spain.
🩺
Veterinary Health Certificates Every bird receives a health certificate from our avian veterinarian before dispatch. For UK and Ireland deliveries, we provide the required TRACES documentation.
💉
Disease-Free Breeding Stock Our breeding pairs are tested for Psittacosis, PBFD, and Polyomavirus. Results are available on request. We operate a closed aviary — no birds enter without quarantine.
✈️
IATA Live Animal Compliance International deliveries via air cargo comply with IATA Live Animals Regulations. We work with authorised cargo agents at Valencia (VLC) airport.
🌍
EU Third Country Export We hold the necessary permits for export to third countries including the UK and Ireland post-Brexit, and are fully compliant with UK Border Biosecurity requirements.

The Species We Breed

We concentrate on a curated selection of species — those we know best and can consistently raise to the highest standard. We do not breed every species on request, and we do not import wild-caught birds.

🩶 African Grey Parrot 💙 Hyacinth Macaw 💛 Blue & Yellow Macaw ❤️ Scarlet Macaw 🧡 Catalina Macaw 💚 Green-Wing Macaw 🤍 Cockatoos 💚 Amazon Parrot 💜 Eclectus Parrot 🌈 Conures

All our macaw species are captive-bred in our own aviaries — we do not source from third-party importers. Cockatoos and African Greys are raised from eggs laid by our own breeding pairs. Availability varies by season; contact us to discuss current and upcoming clutches.

Our Facility

Our aviary is purpose-built for the species we breed. Macaws have large flight aviaries; smaller species have species-specific housing designed to meet their social and environmental needs. The hand-raising nursery is climate-controlled and staffed daily — birds in the weaning phase receive multiple feeds per day and constant human contact.

Location

We are located in Llíria, Valencia (postcode 46160), approximately 30 km north of Valencia city centre. Llíria is served by regular Cercanías train services from Valencia Joaquín Sorolla station (journey time approximately 35 minutes). If you are flying into Spain to visit, Valencia Airport (VLC) is around 40 minutes by road.

Visiting

Visits are by appointment — email paraisodeloros@gmail.com to arrange a time. We accommodate visitors throughout the year, including weekends where possible. We ask that visitors have not been in contact with other birds in the 48 hours before their visit (standard biosecurity).

How We Work with UK & Irish Buyers

Most of our UK and Irish clients never visit Spain — they enquire by email, we discuss species availability and timing, and we handle the entire export process. Here is what that looks like in practice:

  1. Initial enquiry — email us with the species you are interested in and your location. We respond within 24 hours with current availability, expected timelines, and pricing.
  2. Reservation deposit — once you have decided on a bird, a deposit confirms your reservation and initiates the documentation process.
  3. Documentation preparation — we obtain the CITES export permit, health certificate, and TRACES notification (for UK/IE). This typically takes 3–6 weeks.
  4. Air cargo flight — we book the bird on a scheduled cargo service via Valencia Airport. We work with IATA-accredited cargo agents who specialise in live animal transport.
  5. Collection — you collect your bird from the designated cargo facility at your nearest UK or Irish airport (Heathrow, Manchester, Dublin, etc.). We brief you in advance on exactly what to expect.

Throughout the process we send photo and video updates of your bird as it grows. Most clients tell us this is one of the highlights of the experience.

Our Commitment to Bird Welfare

Every decision we make is guided by the welfare of our birds — not by volume of sales. We limit the number of clutches per breeding pair per year. We do not sell birds before they are fully weaned. We screen prospective owners to ensure they understand the commitment involved in keeping a large parrot.
