A proposed movement from Spain is assessed for the individual bird, destination and purpose before any payment, permit application or transport booking.
These pages help buyers organise questions by destination. They do not mean that every airport accepts every live-bird consignment. A lawful route depends on the bird, current animal-health controls, CITES status, approved premises, carrier acceptance and an appropriate Border Control Post.
Important: Great Britain and Ireland have different systems. Northern Ireland must also be checked separately. We confirm a viable entry point only after reviewing the proposed consignment with the relevant authorities and transport professionals.
Ask about a specific identified bird, its current location, provenance and available records. Do not make a payment or enter a contract until the relevant CITES and movement requirements have been checked for the proposed route.
The exporter and importer must establish which CITES permits, commercial-use documents, animal-health certificates, premises approvals, pre-notifications, tests and post-arrival controls apply. Processing times are set by the authorities and are not guaranteed.
If the route is viable, the parties can document responsibilities, costs, approved entry point, onward movement, welfare arrangements and the identification that must match the bird, container and certificates.
Applications, official certification and any required testing are completed in the correct sequence. A carrier or freight professional is approached only after the route and documentary conditions are understood.
The booking must match the authorised route and current carrier rules. Departure point, transit, container, welfare provisions and arrival facility are confirmed in writing; no fixed journey time is promised.
Official checks and release conditions are determined by the destination authorities. Great Britain captive-bird imports can require an approved Border Control Post and post-import quarantine; Ireland has separate intra-EU rules for birds moving from Spain. Collection is never assumed until official clearance is complete.
